Marketing Automation in EMEA - 150% Growth in 2012

I've decided to create a new metric for Marketing Automation in EMEA. Last night DemandGen hosted the 2012 Customer Success with Marketing Automation dinner. We were proud to host EE12 Markies Winners Concur and Swiss Post Solutions. Other new customers joined the celebration too at Le Cafe Anglais in Bayswater.

So my numbers clearly show that our customers, DemandGen and marketing automation have had a great year in EMEA.

We're going to need a bigger table for 2013 - that's for sure!

Marketing Automation - Which is Better Conflict or Content?

This week I was invited to participate in a debate about the merits of Marketing Automation against those who think it has no value. I declined but it did set me thinking

about 'conflict' in forums and webcasts. Generally there is not too much around but occasionally it kicks off.

I recently caught 'Death by Marketing Automation' , a BrightTalk webcast by Mike Volpe of Hubspot. Overall it was pretty impressive and I know what Hubspot technology can offer but I know many would not have agreed with some conclusions drawn about 'other' Marketing Automation technology.

While it might be entertaining to see these differences 'debated' toe to toe I'm not sure what purpose it serves those who participate. If you want to see a recent 'classic' - -and have plenty of time! - go join the "Marketing Automation Experts Group"   on Linked-In to see what happens.

A simple question was asked "Can anyone tell me the differences between Eloqua, Silverpop, Marketo?" - this was swiftly hi-jacked to become a rolling maul of personal insults, accusations, threats and other irrelevance that goes on for pages. Ultimately, a contributor was expelled.

So many hours were burned constructing carefully crafted ripostes - that only MA 'nerds' would read. Customers and prospects give these things a swerve I’m sure.

They were probably off searching for compelling content that gives them useful information. Perhaps a few of them were even tuning into DemandGen’s Webcast Series hosted by yours truly. I think my approach is working – yesterday I got a lift reading an email from a B2B Marketing Professional who said “I actually listened
to a [DemandGen] webcast a few days ago--you do a great job on the social media and educational fronts for marketers. We appreciate it a lot.] That’s made my day!

FUNNEL London Oct 1st -Marketing Automation's Glastonbury!

Really impressed by the nice people at EConsultancy. If you were going to organise a B2B Business event especially designed for John Sweeney it would look exactly like FUNNEL. It’s unlikely to be as much fun as Glastonbury – but the point is that the ‘acts’ here are of the Saturday night on the Main Stage variety.

The aim is to help B2B and ‘considered purchase’ (i.e. those with long lead cycles) marketers with the new strategies and technologies available to generate and nurture sales leads over time, then convert them into trackable and measurable revenue.

Amongst the line-up of practitioner speakers are 3 DemandGen clients (Cisco, ECI, NetApp) who’ll be sure to give a few insights on Marketing Automation aspects of the ‘considered purchase’. Several of the MA technology vendors are sponsoring. If you are really serious about Marketing Automaton this is a must attend event.

If further incentives is needed – a 20% discount is available to members of my linked in group ‘B2B Marketing Automation UK. There you’ll find a promotion code to use when booking on line.
